AvtoVAZ to switch to 4-day work week from June 29

MOSCOW, Apr 23 (PRIME) -- Russia’s largest carmaker AvtoVAZ has decided to switch to a 4-day work week from June 29, a spokesperson for the company told PRIME on Thursday.

“AvtoVAZ’s top priority is job preservation. Based on significant negative market forecasts for April–May and analysts forecasting a 30-50% annual market decline, the company introduces a shortened 4-day working week from June 29, 2020. The corresponding order was signed April 23 (Thursday),” the spokesperson said.

The decision is preliminary, as the company hopes that the situation will begin to improve, as the government is studying introduction of efficient additional measures to stimulate the Russian car sector, the spokesperson added.
